Soon we’ll be on the road again. The From Scratch Pet Bakery family is going to Chicago this weekend for H.H. Backer’s Christmas Trade Show. This is one of the pet industry’s largest shows and educational conferences. Although we are a bakery first and foremost, we want to bring you the best and latest in retail pet items. We search for unique quality items for your pets that are not found just anywhere. There’s always something new. And that’s what makes visiting From Scratch Pet Bakery so fun to do.

A gentleman came to From Scratch Pet Bakery the other day. In a hushed voice, he said he came to look at “the dog cakes”. He seemed a little embarrassed. We reassured him it was OK to get your dog a dog birthday cake; afterall, he is your best friend - right? Of course! Yes, grown men do celebrate a dog birthday. Well there were too many cake possibilities to make a hasty decision. So since his dog’s birthday is in two weeks, he has a little time to think it over. Although he was leaning towards the banana mutt flavor.

This past week at From Scratch Pet Bakery was busy fulfilling dog birthday cake orders. The mini dog birthday cakes, with the bones in the middle, look great in their mini cake boxes. Flavors for the dog birthday cakes included peanut butter, carrot, and banana. The most popular dog cake flavor is definitely peanut butter. We created a mini peanut butter dog birthday cake especially for “Mason” and his owner was so excited with the finished product. Mason’s dog cake featured yellow crowns and blue bones all around the sides. Encircling the top were mini paw prints and of course, Mason’s name.
The gratulations dog cake for Sam was a hit. Sam, once a terror of a terrier, had graduated from obedience school and was in need of a dog cake to celebrate the occasion! His owner came to From Scratch Pet Bakery for something healthy and really special. And since Sam was throwing a dog party, he needed a large doggy cake. So we created the giant party bone doggy cake for him. It’s a 10″ x 14″ bone-shaped cake covered in white yogurt frosting and highlighted with colors of blue and brown. A little terrier, just like Sam, is sprinting across the top with glee at the words “Congrats Sam”. A blue, green, and brown striped ribbon adds the finishing touch to this special dog cake.
